How To Build A Couch

Plywood or MDF for the frame and back
Foam for the cushioning

Building the Frame:

1. Determine the size and shape of your couch and cut the plywood accordingly. 2. Assemble the frame by attaching the sides, back, and front using wood screws. Use L-brackets for additional support. 3. Attach the springs or webbing to the frame to provide support for the foam.

Adding the Foam:

1. Cut the foam to the desired size and shape for the seat, back, and armrests. 2. Layer the foam pieces on top of the springs or webbing, starting with the base foam and adding layers of softer foam for comfort. 3. Secure the foam in place using a staple gun.

Upholstery:

1. Cut the fabric to the appropriate size for each section of the couch. 2. Fold and staple the fabric around the edges of the foam, ensuring it's taut and secure. 3. Add decorative details such as piping, buttons, or tufting for a customized look.

Attaching the Back:

1. Cut a piece of plywood or MDF for the back and upholster it with fabric. 2. Attach the upholstered back to the frame using wood screws or L-brackets. 3. Add additional support by attaching the back to the seat frame with corner braces.

Finishing Touches:

1. Add armrests by cutting plywood or MDF to the desired shape and upholstering them. 2. Attach the armrests to the frame using wood screws. 3. Place cushions and pillows on the couch for added comfort.
