How Do You Patch A Leather Couch

Leather couches are a stylish and comfortable addition to any home, but they can also be expensive to replace if they become damaged. If your leather couch has a small hole or tear, you can easily patch it yourself with a few simple tools and materials.

Materials You Will Need:

Leather patch (available at most fabric stores)
Contact cement
Scissors
Weight (such as a book or heavy object)

Instructions:

1. Clean the area around the hole or tear with a damp cloth. Allow the area to dry completely before proceeding.

2. Cut a patch of leather that is slightly larger than the hole or tear. The patch should be at least 1 inch larger on all sides.

3. Apply a thin layer of contact cement to the back of the patch and to the area around the hole or tear. Allow the cement to dry for a few minutes until it becomes tacky.

4. Carefully align the patch over the hole or tear and press it into place. Use a weight to hold the patch in place for at least 24 hours.

5. Once the patch is dry, you can use a leather sealant to protect it from further damage.

Tips:

If the hole or tear is large, you may need to use a larger patch or multiple patches to cover it.
Be sure to match the color of the patch to the color of your couch as closely as possible.
