Couch to 5k Week 8: You're Almost There!

Congratulations on making it to week 8 of the Couch to 5k program! You're now just one week away from completing the program and being able to run for 30 minutes without stopping. This week, you'll continue to increase your running time and distance, but you'll also start to taper off your training in preparation for your 5k race.

Here's a breakdown of what to expect during week 8:

  • Monday: Rest
  • Tuesday: Run for 25 minutes
  • Wednesday: Cross-train or rest
  • Thursday: Run for 28 minutes
  • Friday: Rest
  • Saturday: Run for 30 minutes
  • Sunday: Rest

As you can see, the running time and distance gradually increase throughout the week, but you also get more rest days. This is important to allow your body to recover and rebuild.

If you're feeling up to it, you can try to increase your running speed during this week. However, it's important to listen to your body and not push yourself too hard. If you start to feel pain, stop running and rest.

By the end of week 8, you should be able to run for 30 minutes without stopping. This is a great accomplishment, and you should be proud of yourself for making it this far. Just one more week to go!

Here are some tips for week 8:

  • Make sure to warm up before each run and cool down afterwards.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water before, during, and after your runs.
  • Listen to your body and take rest days when you need them.
  • Don't be afraid to slow down or walk during your runs if you need to.
  • Find a running buddy or group to help you stay motivated.
