How To Make An Outdoor Couch

Materials You Will Need:

Pressure-treated lumber
Outdoor fabric
Foam cushions
Screws
Drill
Saw
Staple gun

Step 1: Build the Frame

The first step is to build the frame of the couch. The frame will support the cushions and fabric. To build the frame, you will need to cut four pieces of pressure-treated lumber to the following lengths:

Two pieces at 8 feet long
Two pieces at 3 feet long

Once you have cut the lumber, you will need to assemble the frame. To do this, place the two 8-foot pieces of lumber parallel to each other, 3 feet apart. Then, place the two 3-foot pieces of lumber perpendicular to the 8-foot pieces, at the ends. Secure the lumber together with screws.

Step 2: Add the Back and Arms

Once the frame is assembled, you will need to add the back and arms. To do this, you will need to cut four pieces of pressure-treated lumber to the following lengths:

Two pieces at 6 feet long
Two pieces at 18 inches long

To attach the back, place the two 6-foot pieces of lumber vertically on the back of the frame, 3 feet apart. Secure the lumber to the frame with screws. To attach the arms, place the two 18-inch pieces of lumber horizontally on the sides of the frame, 3 feet from the front. Secure the lumber to the frame with screws.

Step 3: Add the Cushions

Once the back and arms are attached, you can add the cushions. To do this, you will need to cut two pieces of foam to the following size:

One piece at 8 feet long by 2 feet wide
Two pieces at 3 feet long by 2 feet wide

Once you have cut the foam, you can cover it with outdoor fabric. To do this, simply staple the fabric to the foam, making sure to pull the fabric taut. Once the cushions are covered, you can place them on the couch.
