How To Recover Couch Cushions
Couch cushions can get worn and faded over time, but that doesn't mean you have to replace your entire couch. Recovering your couch cushions is a great way to give them a fresh look and extend their lifespan. Here's how to do it:
### Materials You'll Need: * New fabric * Scissors * Measuring tape * Staple gun * Staples * Upholstery adhesive * Needle and thread (optional) ### Step 1: Remove the Old FabricUse a staple remover to carefully remove the old fabric from the cushions. Be sure to remove all of the staples, as any remaining staples can cause problems when you're attaching the new fabric.
### Step 2: Measure and Cut the New FabricMeasure the cushions and add 4 inches to the length and width. This will give you enough fabric to wrap around the cushions and staple it in place. Cut the fabric to the desired size.
### Step 3: Attach the New FabricPlace the new fabric over the cushion and wrap it around the edges. Use the staple gun to attach the fabric to the cushion, starting in the middle and working your way outwards. Be sure to pull the fabric taut as you staple it so that there are no wrinkles.
### Step 4: Trim the Excess FabricOnce the fabric is stapled in place, trim any excess fabric around the edges. You can use scissors or a utility knife to do this.
### Step 5: Add Upholstery Adhesive (Optional)If you want to make the fabric more secure, you can apply upholstery adhesive to the edges of the fabric before stapling it in place. This will help to prevent the fabric from coming loose over time.
### Step 6: Sew the Edges (Optional)If you want to give the cushions a more finished look, you can sew the edges of the fabric together. Use a needle and thread to stitch the edges together, starting in the middle and working your way outwards.
### Step 7: Reattach the CushionsOnce the fabric is attached, reattach the cushions to the couch. Make sure that the cushions are properly aligned and that they're securely in place.
