How to Refurbish Couch Cushions

Couch cushions endure a lot of wear and tear, from daily use to accidental spills. Over time, they can become flat, lumpy, or stained. If your couch cushions are looking worse for wear, don't despair! You can easily refurbish them yourself with a few simple steps.

1. Remove the Cushions from the Couch

The first step is to remove the cushions from the couch. This will make it easier to clean and repair them. Most cushions are held in place by Velcro or zippers. Simply undo the fasteners and lift the cushions off the couch.

2. Clean the Cushions

Once the cushions are removed, you can clean them. If the cushions are upholstered in fabric, you can use a vacuum cleaner to remove any loose dirt or debris. You can also spot clean any stains with a mild detergent and water. If the cushions are made of leather, you can wipe them down with a damp cloth. Be sure to test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area first.

3. Repair any Damage

Once the cushions are clean, you can repair any damage. If the cushions are flat, you can add new stuffing. You can purchase stuffing at most fabric stores. Simply open up the cushions and stuff them with the new stuffing. If the cushions are lumpy, you can smooth them out by hand. If the cushions have any tears or holes, you can repair them with a sewing machine or fabric glue.

4. Reassemble the Cushions

Once the cushions are repaired, you can reassemble them. Simply insert the new stuffing into the cushions and sew or glue them closed. Then, reattach the cushions to the couch.
